Distractions may prevent you from listening clearly. Avoid multitasking if possible. By practicing listening to others, you can improve your own listening skills. It might help you improve communication skills. However, good listening skills do not come naturally for everyone. You have to practice it in order to be proficient.


Observing

The first step to becoming a master at mindful observation is to be aware of your surroundings. Mindfulness means to be present in the moment. You can see every little detail and respond accordingly. Being aware of your surroundings will help you avoid wandering and make it easier to complete difficult tasks. Follow these simple steps to master mindful observation.

Acceptance

One of the most beneficial attitudes to bring into your practice of mindfulness is acceptance. Acceptance refers to acknowledging what is happening and not expecting anything in return. Although the term "acceptance" can be controversial, it is essential for mindful living. We are often tempted to use alcohol, drugs or other substances to avoid or mask pain. Sometimes we feel stuck in a vicious cycle of complacency, passivity and oblivion.
