Although most of the studies reported structural barriers, some attitudes were also mentioned. For example, the preference to deal with the problem on one's own, the wish to discuss the problem with friends, and the embarrassment of seeking help were the most common barriers reported. The stigma associated to mental illness was also reported less often. The most common barriers related to stigma and limited knowledge about mental illnesses were also less frequently mentioned.
